Stage North is a diverse and inclusive group of theater professionals dedicated to creating vibrant, live experiences that bring people together to tell and celebrate stories of urban life. We will produce three plays a year at the Capri Theatre in the heart of North Minneapolis. Our hope is that Stage North will help bring new audiences and new excitement and vitality to the North Side business district and contribute to the neighborhood’s continuing growth and expansion. As the only professional theater company on the North Side, we make live theater easily accessible to the community.

The show is a warm-hearted comedy set in 1991 on the North Side of Minneapolis! Silver’s Market has been a Jewish deli (now also selling collard greens and tortillas) and neighborhood institution for fifty years. When city inspectors threaten to close the place down, old friends Silvers, Chavez and Mooney (a Jew, a Mexican, and an African-American) are bound and determined to keep it open. Will they succeed? You KNOW they will, and how they do it will keep you laughing all night long!

The production will be directed by Stage North artistic Director Peter Moore and features long time Twin Cities favorites Michael Tezla as Silvers, James A. Williams as Mooney and playwright Minjares as Chavez. Pearce Bunting, Melanie Wermacher, Ian McCarthy and Domino D’Lorion round out the cast.

Our first production will be King of the Kosher Grocers by local playwright Joe Minjares.

The show will open Oct. 15 and play Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm and Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm through Nov. 7.
